It was another great weekend in Orange, with 160 tables over three days and nearly 675 silver masterpoints awarded to 190 players. Thank you to everyone for coming out! All the results are available here, and we’ll be highlighting all the section winners below.
Friday
On Friday the Monroe Magnus trophy was awarded to Jeff Goldman for his outstanding performances in 2025: he won the most masterpoints total at our three Sectional tournaments last year.

Jeff teamed up with sixteen-time trophy winner winner Richard DeMartino and they won the morning Open Pairs session with an incredible 72% game. The afternoon session was won by Jill Fouad and Robert Lavin.
In the 499er section, both sessions were won by Alan Carpenter and Robert Garstak, with remarkably consistent scores of 66.80% and 66.74%.
Saturday
The Jeff Feldman trophy was presented to Sandy DeMartino for earning the most masterpoints in last fall’s Sectional. Sandy accepted with a very moving speech about the late Jeff Feldman, for whom the trophy is named.

In the Open Pairs, the morning session was won by Helen Benson and Lisette Voorhees, and the afternoon by Gary Miyashiro and Mike Hess. In the 499 section, the morning was won by Noah Hutchinson and Zeena Lobo, and the afternoon by Monica Fay and Mary Hunt.
Sunday
Sunday began early with a free lecture by Diamond Life Master (and Unit president!) Mike Hess. Attendance was amazing, the room was packed!

We hope to run more classes like this at future tournaments and we are actively working on getting a larger space available for everyone.
Mike’s lecture was followed by a single-session 299er pairs game which was won by Carl Lins-Morstadt and Patrick O’Neil with a very strong 72% score. Twenty teams fought it out in the Open Swiss, which was won by Peter Katz, Frank Blachowski, YL Shiue and Tom Joyce.
The Barbara Shaw Trophy
This trophy was won by Justin Young. It is awarded to the Flight C player who earns the most masterpoints at our spring Sectional and will be presented at our next tournament.
Lost and Found
A jacket was left on the church coat rack after the tournament– lightweight black puffer with a hood. If you’re the owner or know who is, please let us know at info@ct-bridge.org so we can get it back where it belongs.
